Okay, so I’m just trying to wrap my head around the trend of growing your armpit hair, and now from China comes this new trend of wrapping my head in something on the beach – a Facekini. I’ll risk outraged readers and go out on a limb and say – Come on! First let’s try a hat and sunscreen and if that doesn’t work, stay inside!
While some people may be lining up to find the latest Facekini design, on the opposite side of the spectrum, are people overexposing themselves to the sun for another style trend. Sunburn art. The answer to the search for the non permanent tattoo, the danger here is the even more permanent skin cancer.
Some of the hot fashion trends are great. As someone who has never stopped wearing some version of the jean jacket, I’m thrilled that denim is so in this season. Ripped denim is being worn on more than casual Fridays. Fantastic!
Are we literally slaves to fashion? Bondage fashion, perhaps inspired by 50 Shades of Gray’s popularity is also a hit on the runways. Something doesn’t sit right with me about women displaying themselves in a fashion linked to being restrained. That’s all I’m saying. Obviously there are some great dresses, shoes and more from top designers that are gorgeous.
More worrisome, is the hair burning trend. Sure I’d love to get rid of my split ends, but not at the risk of my scalp. This is an accident waiting to happen. Do not try it at home. Or anywhere else if you ask me. Pin it along with the Facekini on your Never Try This Ever Pinterest board.
We can go too far with fashion trends. Think the Australian woman and her dangerously skinny jeans. Hopefully, most of us watch the trends, take pieces of them we like, discard things we don’t, throw in a handful of our own personality and in the end, we all create our own fashion trend, unique to ourselves.
